Get Involved

Missions at St. Paul

St Paul extends our presence throughout our community and the world. Here are some of the ways you can get involved in the ministry of St Paul United Methodist Church.

Special Offerings

Every month, St Paul has a different mission emphasis. Many times, this is an offering for such things as Disaster Relief, Wesley Woods, Wellroot (formerly the United Methodist Children's Home), or other United Methodist causes in our country and around the world, through UMCOR. At other times, these offerings go to local causes, such as MUST Ministries' Summer Lunch Program or Kennesaw UMC's Foster Care ministry.

Hands-On Ministry

St Paul often calls on its members to be personally involved. Once a month, St Paul members provide a meal at MUST Ministries' Hope House. At the beginning of each school year, we collect school supplies for classrooms at Bells Ferry Elementary School. Every Fall around Thanksgiving, members select a child at Bells Ferry Elementary School and purchase a coat for him or her.

Helping Hands

In our community, many people find themselves at the end of their resources. At such times, they will call St. Paul UMC to request assistance. We are able to write a check for a limited amount, once every 12 months, to help our neighbors in need. In this way, we are prepared when those whose spirits are down come to our church looking for hope for a brighter tomorrow.

MISSION COMMITTEE

The Mission Committee at St. Paul UMC coordinates projects to meet the needs of others that the congregation feels led to support on a monthly basis throughout the year. The committee welcomes any suggestions for areas of need or concerns to be served.

The Mission Committee meets the needs of:

  • The church community, during times of illness, grief, and prayer concerns.
  • The church facilities, through upkeep of our property and supplies.
  • The local community, through donations and to the Wellroot Homeless Council for the UMC Children’s Home.
  • The local elementary school through prayers, school supplies, clothing, and other assistance as needed.
  • The homeless, through donations of food, service, clothing, and financial assistance via MUST Ministries here in Marietta.
  • Our neighbors who need temporary assistance, through our Helping Hands Basket, which is replenished by the congregation on Communion Sunday each month.
  • The elderly, through donations to Wesley Woods on Mother’s Day.
  • The global community, through donations of supplies, service, and money to UMCOR/Disaster Relief.

The need is always with us and with much devoted prayer a project is chosen. It excites the soul to see the power of congregational prayer and the generous response toward each project presented throughout the year. This is one way St. Paul shares the love of Christ at home, in the neighborhood, throughout the country, and around the world.
